What is declared value?
What you write on a grading form as the card’s worth — it decides which tier you can use and what the card is insured for.
What it means
Every grading form asks what the card is worth. Each tier insures a card only up to a set amount, so the figure you write decides which tiers you may use.
Write it too low and the card travels under-insured; too high and you may pay for a faster, dearer tier than the card needs.
In SlabScore
- SlabScore declares a card at what it sells for at the grade you expect, in the market of the company you chose.
- It then picks that company’s cheapest tier on total cost — the tier’s price plus any fee scaled to the value — whose cover reaches the declared value.
- When no tier covers it, the tier with the most cover is used, and the card says what that company does next.
