What is a raw card?
A card no grading company has slabbed — it sells on its condition, from Near Mint down to Damaged.
What it means
A raw card is one no company has graded and sealed in a slab. It sells on its condition, which sellers describe in 5 steps: Near Mint, Lightly Played, Moderately Played, Heavily Played and Damaged.
Grading it means paying a company to give it a number and seal it; what it sells for afterwards depends on that number.
In SlabScore
- The raw price is what grading gives up, so every figure on a Grading Outlook subtracts it.
- SlabScore takes the Near Mint price. If you enter what your own copy is worth, yours is used instead, and the card says the figure came from you.
- If a worse condition has sold above Near Mint, that higher price becomes the floor, and every gain on the card is shown as an upper limit.
- On the card in the table no worse condition sold above Near Mint, so $2,404.28 is what grading gives up.
Grade premium, in the guide shows how the step from the raw price to the graded one is rated.
